Candida Albicans is an aggressive fungus commonly found in the birth canal, intestines, and mouths of healthy humans, but can become problematically prolific after antibiotic use, under intense stress, or after consuming sugar excessively. Candida overgrowth produces toxic acetaldehyde, a powerful carcinogen that can cause DNA damage, increasing cancer risk. Candida toxins can also cause leaky gut syndrome, resulting in allergies and autoimmune system maladies. Symptoms include frequent vaginal yeast infections, thrush, and cradle cap (white cheesy dandruff). To maximize health when Candida overgrowth is suspected, consult a trained professional for assistance balancing gut bacteria, reduce sugar intake and increase fermented foods.
